if you're referring to body proportions I prefer it to be as accurate as possible, including with young-looking characters. I see no rea*** no logic to go an pick up a character you like and inflate it as a bimbo or slut or whatever; for example: I would never ever draw Rukia with Inoue's size breast or a huge ass way bigger than what she has. I like Rukia the way she is, why should I change it now? I appreciate her with all and her more juvenile flat-chested body. I always find it extremely unfaithful to grab a character that is not anything like Matsumoto and to give her the exact same characteristic... after all, you're just making a clone of Matsumoto but smaller (maybe) and with black hair. I don't mind making tights, breasts, ass and other things slightly bigger, but to really exaggerated point? No, thank you. And this also applies for curvy girls; I don't want to draw them with less boobage and thinner thighs, let's them to be as curvy, maybe slightly bigger, slightly smaller than the original reference, but not completely reversing the character with a non explained rea***.
Now, if you're relating to the style... I prefer the style to be as accurate as possible too as I like to think it came from an episode or something. I know it's non-creative at all as you can't experiment that much if you're making what others do, but as said above, you can always add some of your per***al styles to make it is more recognizable than 500 artists doing the exact same. with things that have no canon material, like OCs or something, I always prefer to see the artist's style at full, so you can play with different styles for the same non-existing character.
